What is Pay Per Click Advertising?

A PPC campaign (eg. Google AdWords) involves placing a bid on keywords connected to your business or service. When users search on those terms, your ads are shown together with the search results. You only pay when someone clicks on your ad and arrives at your site – (not every time the ad is shown).

Clearly, some search terms will be more popular/expensive than others – bids of £10-20 per click are not unknown – but unless you're selling personal injury claims services, or something even more dodgy, 10-30p per click is the norm.
